The development philosophy of Bhutan led by His Majesty, the King, Jigme Singye Wangchuk is Gross National Happiness.
His Majesty announced this philosophy a few decades ago and our country is the only country in the world to measure its
wellbeing by Gross National Happiness (GNH) instead of Gross National Product (GNP). The GNH policy has been
passed in the parliament and the Government is taking every step to ensure that the GNH precedes over economic
prosperity.
In this webpage you will find links to various write-ups and discussions on GNH. You can have a better understanding of
this National Policy and know what Gross National Happiness really means by reading the ideas of national as well as
international scholars provided through the links below.
This webpage also gives you an opportunity to let people know what you think about GNH and how our country
can achieve this noble goal. You are welcome to contribute your ideas to this page. All you have to do is mail your
document to us and we will add it to this webpage.
