News in Detail:     Rigsum CC makes semis
BCCB Super League 2 July, 2010 - After rain washed play out on Sunday, teams Rigsum and Pung Dzong decided to battle it out on Thursday.

They met in the ninth match of the ongoing BCCB super league cricket tournament played at Jigmethang, Dechencholing. A win will gain either side a berth in the semi-final.

The match couldn’t start on time as rain stopped play for an hour and they settled to play 30 overs.

The rank outsiders, Pung Dzong, after winning the toss, put Rigsum CC in to bat. The Rigsum openers made a poor start, losing both openers, Manoj and Kencho, with just 17 runs on the board. Team captain Sonam and Thinley pulled the game back for their side by adding 116 runs for the third wicket.

Thinley was run out by Susil Sharma for 63, and Sonam was caught out at 53. At the end of 27 overs, Rigsum set a total of 193 runs.

Pung Dzong’s Ambrish took 3 wickets for 9 runs in 5 overs and Lalit took 4 for 24 in 4 overs.

Pung Dzong started off well, scoring 12 runs in the first over, and further added a 43-run opening partnership in 30 balls, before opener Ambrish was trapped leg before wicket (LBW). Opener Susil played some blistering shots, before he was out for 30. No other Pung Dzong batsman could make any impression from there on. They ended up with 141, losing by 52 runs.

Rigsum captain Sonam was awarded the man of the match for his all round 53 runs and 4 wickets.

Rigsum will play BTCL to decide for the top place in group A. While in group B, Team Vibes play BEC on Saturday, while Bhutan Telecom play Youth XI on Sunday.
