News in Detail:     Drawn game gets teams off the mark
10th National A Division League 6 July, 2010 - Nangpa FC and Druk Athletic FC, two teams yet to register a point in the first round of the ongoing 10th national A division league championship, shared the spoils yesterday, when they drew 1-1 and got a point each.

The first half of the game saw both teams struggling to score, although the Druk Athletic goalkeeper was tested frequently.

Nangpa FC nearly broke the deadlock just before the half time, when one of its midfielder’s attempt was denied by the post. The first half of the game ended with both teams failing to score.

The second half of the game saw more action, with both teams determined to score. Both came close to scoring but could not find the net. However, the deadlock was broken in the 70th minute, when Nangpa’s striker Ganesh headed home a neat cross to take the lead. Nangpa tried to hold on to the slim lead, but minutes later they gave away a cheap penalty, to bring back Druk Athletic into the game. Druk Athletics’ winger Sangay was brought down in the box, and the referee, without any hesitation, pointed to the penalty spot. Sangay got up, dusted himself and converted the penalty to make it 1-1.

Drukstar will play Transport United FC today. Transport United has a record of 12 goals scored in the league against Druk Athletic.
