News in Detail:     50 slots on offer
Kingfisher Training Academy 8 July, 2010 - A team from the Kingfisher training academy is in the country, offering 50 slots in hotel industry, aviation and hospitality and retail industry for class XII students and graduates.

“Students, who are aged between 17 and 27, should have a minimum qualification of class XII; and these students will be trained for aviation, hospitality and retail management,” said the Kingfisher business relation manager, Ankan Das; adding that students have to sit for an interview in Bhutan, which will be conducted by the team from Kingfisher training academy.

Ankan Das said that the 50 selected students will get an opportunity to study and train for nine months, or a year, depending on the selection of their respective courses.

“The courses we provide are certificate in aviation management for 9 months, and a 15-day internship in Kolkata airport with Kingfisher airlines; hotel hospitality management for nine months; six months retail operation management and three-month internship; and airlines and hotel management for 12 months and 15-day internship with Kingfisher airlines in Kolkata,” said Ankan Das, adding that Kingfisher training academy also provides transport services and accommodation facilities for the students at a nominal amount.

Marketing officer, Namrata Pradhan, said the selection process will begin today, and criteria like height, weight, spoken English and personal interview with written examination will be taken into account. “Depending on the course, fees range from Nu 100,000 to Nu 125,000,” said Namrata Pradhan, adding that employees in aviation airlines are paid an average salary of Nu 25,000; and Nu 20,000 for hotel industry.

Kingfisher training academy is an affiliate of Kingfisher airlines, under the banner of United beverage group.

According to Namrata Pradhan, 182 students have registered their names, including 26 graduates, and most of them are girls.
