‘A’ Division National League 8 July, 2010 - Minnows Druk Athletic gifted two goals, as Drukpol thrashed them 5-0 yesterday in the ongoing A division national league.
Although Drukpol pressed Athletic right from the start, it took 38 minutes for Drukpol to break the deadlock, and they needed the assistance of an Athletic defender. Drukpol’s winger, Tshechung Tshering was brought down in the D area, and the referee, without any hesitation, pointed to the spot. Wangyal Dorji kept his composure to slot home from the spot.
The second half began in a similar fashion. Fifteen minutes into the half, striker Jigme Drakpa was fouled, again in the D area. Wangyal Dorji coolly scored from the spot to make it 2-0. Drukpol scored again within two minutes after that. Captain Sonam Tenzin, after dribbling past a few defend ers, crossed to striker Jigme Drakpa, who made it three. The captain was again involved in the fourth goal. He sent a pinpoint cross to Tshechung Tshering, who scored with his head from about three yards.
Tshechung Tshering got his second and Drukpol’s fifth just before the end of the regular time, to make it a miserable day for Druk Athletic.
