News in Detail:     Drukstar keeper saves the day
National ‘A’ League 12 July, 2010 - Drukstar’s keeper Pushpalal was the man of the match in yesterday’s match against Drukpol FC, if there was system of declaring such in the ongoing A division national league at the Changlimithang ground.

Pushpalal pulled off some dramatic saves to keep an all out attack minded Drukpol team out; while, at the other end, Drukstar did enough to take home all three points in a highly contested match.Drukpol thought they took the lead with just a quarter of an hour gone, when an attempt from their striker was heading towards the top corner. But Pushpalal was equal to the challenge and pulled off a spectacular save to deny Drukpol. He palmed the ball away for a corner kick, which his defense dealt with comfortably.

At the other end, Drukstar’s Sonam and Karan combined to give their team the lead in the 25th minute. A swift counter attack saw Karan free with the ball and he sent a well measured cross, which Sonam headed in.

Drukpol was shaken and tried everything to get an equaliser, but Pushpalal, although kept busy for most part of the game, denied several Drukpol players a chance. The second half started again with Drukpol searching for an equaliser, but Drukstar hit back and scored the second goal seventieth minutes into the second half.

The goal didn’t demoralise Drukpol. And just five minutes after the goal, they pulled one back. This time Pushpalal couldn’t keep out a point blank header from Drukpol’s Tandin Tshering, after they conceded a corner kick. However, Drukstar managed to hold on to the lead to end the game 2-1.
